Alejandro Lopart was born in Mexico City, Mexico, in 1977, and lives and works in Los Angeles. He received a title from Facultad de Filosofia y Letras, UNAM, and attended Facultad de Arquitectura at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. His artistic mission has been no less ambitious than an attempt to represent the profound natures of the self and the structures of knowledge and belief that we use to understand and visualize it.
Alejandro Lopart has worked in poetry, painting, drawing, music, architecture, performance, installations and video-art creating a vocabulary that dwells into spirituality, occultism, meditation and the mystical. In his work, Lopart describes a possible path to a higher consciousness through the contemplation of ideas, and their subsequent interpretations in a kind of contemplative mirror of the self, solidifying ephemeral and intangible theories of who we are in a timeline in a unique and recognizable gestural form that emphasizes the nature of humanity.
His work deals with the esoteric and the proclamation that a profound path to the sacred is possible through the contemplation of art done under specific conditions of human inner observation.
His art depicts the transmutation of "the accident of life" into tangible metaphorical objects that open a door to the possibility of a transcendental experience.
It is an attempt to trace the outlines of the extraordinary journey that leads all of us towards death.
